To find the perfume capital of the world, simply head in the direction of the French Riviera. High above the amazing beaches lining the coast, it awaits. You've only got to travel up the sunny hills about 30 miles to reach Grasse, the medieval Mecca of marvelous fragrances.

"World capital" may be a suspicious-sounding exaggeration, but for Grasse, it's not an overstatement. Nearly 30 scent companies based there manufacture the fragrances in most of the perfumes, soaps, potpourri, talc, aftershave and cologne sold around the globe. Prefer Chanel? Lanvin? Houbigant? These famous fragrances and many other costly perfumes are actually made in Grasse. In fact, chances are good the perfume you're wearing right now was once a spice, herb, or Mediterranean flower distilled and blended in this rather obscure French city.

Lampe Berger, one of the oldest luxury brands in Europe, has strong ties to the famous perfumers of Grasse. That bond began decades ago, before Woorld War II. Today, the same companies that produce luxury body perfumes are also responsible for the company's fabulous home fragrances one burns insside the company's famous Lampe Berger. World-famous firms such as Payan & Bertrand, Manne Suzio and other are among the company's clients.
